History of Belly Dancing: 

It descended from ancient Egyptian social dances

It originated in India over 5000 years ago, and had spread through out the Middle East with the migrations of the Gypsy tribes also called Roma in Europe, Ghawazee in Egypt, and Nawar in India.

What does a belly dancer wear?
The costume most commonly associated with belly dance is the ‘bedlah’ (Arabic: بدلة‎‎; literally “suit”) style, which typically includes a fitted top or bra, a fitted hip belt, and a full-length skirt or harem pants.


What culture is belly dancing from?
